December 2020/January 2021 Update

Happy New Year from Colorado Springs! I hope that each of you had a fantastic holiday celebration with family and friends… whether virtually or in person.

Current Market Conditions

The mood has changed considerably since the fall of 2020. After nearly a year of fear and pessimism–both in the markets and across social media–I sense glimmers of hope in the air.

Needless to say, our Vailshire investment portfolios have performed exceedingly well throughout 2020, and I anticipate more of the same (or better!) for 2021.

Both the US and international economies are once again accelerating and inflation has returned across many asset classes. This combination–along with a continued accommodative Federal Reserve weakening the US dollar–bodes well for our investments for the foreseeable future. After being bearish for much of 2019 and the first half of 2020, my current research is leading me to be firmly in the optimism camp.

This is an excellent time to be fully invested!

Strategies for Vailshire’s Separately Managed Accounts

Similar to last month, there are plenty of investment opportunities in US, international, and emerging markets–especially in equities, select commodities, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies.

Depending on your investment objectives and individual account investment privileges, Vailshire’s separately managed accounts are allocated in the following manner:

  • 40-45% US Stocks (large, mid, and small caps, including technology and energy stocks)
  • 10% Emerging Market Stocks
  • 5-16% Cash
  • 25-40% Bitcoin/Ethereum/Cryptocurrency proxies (based on personal preference and trading permissions)
  • 5% Commodity-based Equities

If you are a Vailshire Client, feel free to log into your Vailshire-managed account(s) at Interactive Brokers and notice how your own portfolios are positioned. (It’s a good idea to log into your accounts at least quarterly, just to make sure your settings and demographics are up to date.)

At the close of another year, and the start of a new year, I am extremely grateful for you, my Vailshire clients!
